Nicholas's Journey

I am a former National U-19 Cricket Captain with over 30 years of public accounting experience in EY Caribbean serving a diversified portfolio of clients with an emphasis on the financial services sector, consumer products, industrial products, retail and distribution, public companies, multi-nationals and other large Caribbean and Trinidad & Tobago clients. As a Leader of the EY Caribbean Regional Assurance Operations served by 15 partners and 300 team members, we managed over 500 audit clients across the Caribbean landscape. Additionally, I served as the Office Managing Partner in our Trinidad & Tobago location from 2009 to 2015.

As I reflect on this journey, I pay tribute to my cricket coaches, school masters and my cricket mates for providing an education for life through the greatest team sport played in the Caribbean region, Cricket! It is the only sport where we represented the West Indies Region as a unified regional team. For those who have any doubt you should review the history of Cricket in the Caribbean region from the pre- and post-colonial days to truly appreciate what West Indian cricketers contributed to this region. Let us not be discouraged by the current happenings but remain present to our contribution as a Region to this global sport and to our Caribbean people. I am forever grateful for our West Indian cricket heroes.

I remain committed to contributing the lessons learnt from these experiences to my colleagues in BLEWSTREAM. I truly believe that our future lies in the hands of our youth. We must remain available to share and contribute to their skills development, leadership abilities and well-being in a purposeful manner. The youth are our future! It is very evident that we need to transform our educational landscape to be able to connect skills and leadership development with job opportunity and placement. To my mind this is a fundamental shift from what currently exists.

BLEWSTREAM will be a catalyst for change! We are committed to bringing skills and leadership development, sport and business into an integrated ecosystem that produces high performing, all rounded Caribbean citizens.
